Ladies

The inspirational movie this morning was about women and how they first must take care of themselves in order to fulfill their job of taking care of others. Women are nurturers, an inbred quality that manifests itself on a daily basis as each one goes about taking care of their husbands, their children, their parents, their friends and their jobs. Nothing is out of bounds in the world of today and as this picture attests to their beauty, their smiles and their intelligence . . . what a world we live in and how many women have we to thank for the discipline, the devotion and love that surrounds us.

The e-mail that came in yesterday was about this female crew that 'drive' a C5 with a plane loaded with soldiers heading for Afghanistan. According to the write up, the female flight attendant was going through the usual procedures as they were about to take off. One old Master Sergeant asked if he heard right that the captain was a woman and the attendant said that she was as was all the flight crew. His reaction was " My God, I wish I had two double scotch and sodas, I don't know what to think...." Her response was that "we no longer call it the cockpit but it's the box office." A short consensus was that women given sperm make a baby . . . given a house they make it a home; given groceries they make a meal and if you smile they give you their heart. It goes on to say that 'she' multiplies and enlarges what is given to her and the ending says in no uncertain terms if you give her any crap be ready to receive a ton of sh-t. So it is true, women will do their utmost to make life fulfilling and beautiful but only if you are smart enough to meet them half way and the magic words "I love you" is the oil that keeps their lamps burning.

So today, give thanks for the women in your lives. How lucky we are if 'mom' is still with us, but if she has gone on to her reward, light a candle and send up a word or two about her good deeds and know she did her best. If she is giving you grief, suck it up and know she cares about you. Call your girl friends and let them know you are happy to have them in your life. Just make it an all 'female day' and find a way to share some of the love and laughter. Um. . . think I'll make a couple of calls, maybe send an e mail or two, wonder who is free for lunch today . . . I'll buy! Hugs to all.

P.S. I almost forgot this is December 7th - PEARL HARBOR DAY - I hope we never forget to honor the few veterans that are still with us . . . and always remember those that have gone before. Light a candle or two and say a special prayer for all.
